Please pass the virus...

This past week was marked by high fevers, understandably crabby children and not enough Mommy to go around. Given the relatively short duration of the fever & the absence of any rashes or blisters, we are chalking it up to the generic "summer virus". I did end up taking Chloe to the doc on Friday to check for an ear infection but her ears were all clear. Chloe seems back to herself except for a reduced appetite, Liam just has symptoms of his seasonal allergies & Michael is okay except for croup. All children are run-down and tired but overall, they are okay.

The above-mentioned illness is the first time we have had an illness circulate through all 3 children. That takes your 2 or 3 day event and drags it out over the course of a week--ugh! While there were disrupted nights and lots of crying, I am thankful that we weren't dealing with a stomach related illness.

This morning, Mike headed out for an overnight trip with his besties. I know that many parents travel regularly due to their jobs but it doesn't really happen around here. Mike used to work an overnight shift sometimes but he was here for bed time prep and back fairly early in the morning. I haven't spent a night away from the kiddos except when in the hospital to give birth. I recently had the opportunity for a "girls night" at the beach...but I declined because as silly as it may sound, I am just not ready to spend a night away from Chloe. She's only NINE months old...this feeling will wear off, right?

I have to temporarily switch to a different pediatrician due to our insurance. The kids are currently covered by insurance through the state since Mike is unemployed and I am obviously not working. Luckily our regular peds will be on board with our new insurance within the next month. I took Chloe for a sick visit on Friday and was not particulary thrilled with our visit. But she has her 9 month well visit on Tuesday so I am hoping that will be a better experience. Our regular peds are AWESOME--informative, understanding and they never make you feel like a inconvenience or a hypochondriac mother. I am sad to use another provider but times are tough and that is just how it is!

Our week was pretty much consumed by illness and we didn't do a whole heck of alot. I am optimistic that the coming week will be more fun and eventful!! Tomorrow night I am going to the movies with my mom to see "Eat, Pray, Love"--I hope it worth the trip but it will be fun to spend time with my mom sans small children.
