Book Report

Oh, I am looong overdue for this.  I finished reading "The Blessings of the Animals" by Katrina Kittle a few weeks back and I keep forgetting to write about it.

I won this book- signed by the author herself!- from Kelsey.  After reading a few things about this author and her work online, I felt certain that I would like the book...but I had no idea I would really LOVE the book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story- it was hard for me to put down!  I like how the main character came to realize that things aren't always as they seem- with animals OR with humans.  And how she came to discover more about herself throughout the book.  This book might at first seem like "light reading" yet there are several layers to the story...but the layers aren't buried.  As a reader, I was able to follow the main character through those layers without getting lost in too much description or psycho-babble.  And rather than sharp twists and turns in the plot, it unfolds quite naturally but still manages to surprise.   It was a refreshing read and I am now eager to read other works by Ms. Kittle.  I am also a big Jodi Picoult fan and this book had a little bit of that vibe but Ms. Kittle has her own style for sure.

I don't want to spoil anything but you can read the overview of the book here:

Thank you so much Kelsey for introducing me to a new author and for sending me such a lovely gift :)
