1. Our same-age-as-Chloe dryer is broken. This is our 3rd dryer in less than 6 years. Clearly, our home is where dryers come to die. I am hoping that our income tax check arrives by the end of the week because while the old dryer is working enough to dry stuff, it is taking 3x as long and I'm sure it's some sort of fire hazard. This is the dryer that I already paid (too much money) to fix once so I'm not going down that road again. Any thoughts on brands/models? I am open to suggestions :)
2. Mike's car is (over) due to be inspected. Thank heaven for grace periods. I am praying that doesn't result in a large bill because we are really hoping to finally pay that sucker off in about a month or two.
3. My car needs some basic maintenance work at about 93,000 miles. It also needs 4 new tires. I know it's going to cost a few bucks but some things need to be taken care of so I don't have the pleasure of one of those "uh-oh" days that generally costs even MORE!
4. I am very grateful that our taxes are done and that we will have some funding to help us take care of these upcoming expenses. I knew the car stuff was coming but the dryer caught me totally off guard.
5. We've got a long list of things we'd love to do with some of the tax return money. However, we want to be thoughtful and careful- which means less exciting things come first. So it isn't quite as much fun as it could be but I am hoping that this is the year we get our financial goals in order :)

We've had the same dryer for 9years...and we bought it used,so I have no idea how old it actually is... Based on it's rather beat up condition when we bought it, I'd think it's 12years old at least. When we had it repaired, the guy actually told us the engine on these will never die. It was our vent to the outdoors that was clogged and causing it not to dry. Cleaned it out, and dryer worked again.
Our dryer is a Hotpoint...which is a GE brand. Not fancy...no frills or fun features. But apparently it will never die.
Ah, yes, the joys of home owning. Since last spring we've replaced our fence and roof and repaired the eaves of our house. There's more to do (electrical and damage done to the walls and ceilings while the roof was leaking) but it's on hold until we build up more reserves.
So far, we've killed a GE and a Whirlpool...this time around, I'm thinking Maytag is a possibility.
Oh the dryer! That is bad dryer luck. Is it possible there is some connection/vent problem?
Those tax refunds... ours always seems to be spoken for before it arrives. Sigh. (But it is better than nothing?)
