1. Liam started speech therapy this week and true to form, he was totally go-with-the-flow. I told him he was going to meet his new teacher & work on saying different words/play games. He went right along with her, easy-peasy.
2. Liam voluntarily used the potty twice this past week AND spent about 2 hours in underwear without incident. For the child who prefers his diaper, this is a good start. I am not yet pushing anything with him, just letting him feel it out. Mid-to-late August is my designated "You will be done with diapers" time.
3. Michael's appetite is enormous right now- I am pretty sure there is a growth spurt happening. He is also starting to try some foods that he previously would not try so I am happy to see him becoming more adventurous with eating. It makes dinner planning much easier for me too.
4. Chloe is determined to stand while holding onto the ottoman (or whatever). She still needs our support but is getting better at it each day. She also likes taking steps while holding our hands. And I think she has finally figured out that she maybe should work on some skills related to tummy time & crawling...because she needs to increase her upper body strength & coordination in order to make the whole walking thing happen.
5. I have managed to accomplish some necessary (and overdue) cleaning this week. Thanks mostly to my unemployed husband. My house wouldn't win any awards but my mind is much more organized when I don't feel like the house is a complete wreck.
6. I hate when you are the only person awake at night and some strange sound (that has a totally reasonable explanation) happens out of the blue. And you have to wonder if something creepy is going on or if it is something totally stupid. But you don't really want to check it out because what if you get killed? Totally ridiculous, I know.
7. There are SO many things I want to do for house or get for our house and we just don't have the funds right now. One item that has made a fast move to the #1 spot? A (high) fence for a backyard because one of our two connected neighbors is just COMPLETELY unbearable. Thankfully, my other neighbor is good.
8. I am finding myself a bit preoccupied with all the materialistic things that I wish we could have. And I'd like to get out of that line of thinking...because at a time like this, I need to focus on using what we do have to our very best advantage. And it's also a real bummer to only think about what you don't have.
9. For about 3 seconds, the laundry in my home is caught up...Meaning that: there aren't baskets sitting around to be folded/put away AND there are no mounds of laundry on my basement floor AND the hampers aren't more than half full. It's embarrassing how gratifying this is for me...Don't worry, it won't last!
10. Liam likes to refer to his swim goggles as his "gobbles"...it is totally adorable!

LOVE the gobbles.
I know what you mean about getting caught up in all that you DON'T have. It's hard, because you think about things that would make your life better. You're not sitting around wishing you had a stretch HUMMER. Not extravagent stuff, but still stuff that's out of reach. I totally get it.
Bad neighbors are The Worst.
Jane, that is too funny - Sophia calls her goggles "swim gobbles too! We should introduce them!
I was just thinking about that night-time noise thing last night while I was the only one awake (feeding Luke). I heard a noise and got all nervous and wondered why I am so frequently the only one awake to hear such things.
#8 Me TOO. It is really easy to get wrapped up in what I see other people able to have/do and I wonder what we're doing wrong... but I try to remind myself to be patient and grateful for what we do have. Still, a yard makeover (more than what we could do on our own) would seriously change the quality of our family life. Sigh. We have some bad neighbors too.
