1. Where is this new wave little kid mohawk trend coming from? I know it isn't just in these parts b/c I've seen/heard about it otherwise. I don't mind little boys with mohawks, I am just curious. Oh I guess little girls could jump on board too but I haven't seen that yet...Maybe Shiloh Jolie-Pitt will be the first?
2. What are the best "real" foods to start with for an 8 month old? Chloe is not digging baby food so much right now- although she will still tolerate stage 3 and baby cereal. I think she just wants to chew stuff & eat what her brothers are eating. We are doing puffs, etc. but what about "real" food from our table?
3. How can I reset my body & become a morning person so that I can actually start this running thing that just ISN'T happening for me? And I really want it to--but each day just slips by & despite my efforts to get it done at the later part of the day, that just isn't in the cards right now. Morning is my only option but OH- how I loathe getting up early.
4. What do you do to effectively pack for vacation? I seem to end up going crazy the morning of our departure because I just never have it together. How soon do you start packing? Any tips?
5. How can I get money to grow on a tree?
Michael's sunflower that he planted at preschool & brought home to add to our garden :)

No surprise, Willa Mae is the same way about eating baby food these days. She ONLY wants to feed herself.
I give her just about any of the canned vegetables or fruits (lots of cut up green beans and pears), bananas, cantelope, braunschwager, and last night she ate a scrambled egg. And of course cheerios and puffs. She ate a cut up whole wheat pancake for breakfast yesterday too.
Hailey never ate baby food. What a pain! Chicken noodle soup(shaped noodles) with the broth drained. Pasta Pick-ups, pancakes. I would make veggies and mix some chicken broth/chicken noodle soup in it. I would put that in small tuperware containers to freeze then microwave. Curly pasta cut up. Toast. Spaghetti O's. Oatmeal. I could go on and on. I wasted so much money trying to find a baby food she would eat. Never did.
Noodles, soft lumps of sweet potatoes, steamed peas, my little girl really loved canned black beans and canned corn when she was first starting to eat food. She also loved holding onto the whole asparagus spear and gnawing onto it for a while. Frozen turkey meatballs cut into little bits.
I don't think there is any way to avoid running around like a chicken with a head cut off on the morning of vacation. So much of the stuff that you need to pack you use every day and night, so you can't pack it until you're ready to walk out the door, right? I hate that.
And I wish I knew about the morning person thing...no idea. Being a night person just doesn't jive with having little kids.
Good stuff so far :) I know this is my 3rd child, you would think I could figure this out...but I tend to forget things & my worry is always introducing something that upsets the young tummy. I will be trying out these suggestions!
We take long trips...a lot...and we have to leave first thing in the morning...which means no time for running around scrambling.
To avoid it, I pack everything I can the night before...clothes, food, etc. It literally goes into the car...not just packed and sitting in the hallway. I make a list of the last minute things that need to be packed the next morning. Then I have a big tote/duffle bag that I leave out. This is for the night-nights, the sound machines, the favorite sippy cup, diapers, etc. Sometimes even the pjs they are wearing go in there. As each child wakes up, they help me pack their favorite last minute items.
The nice thing about that system is that once you get to your destination, you have easy access to those bedtime items...so less to get out and prepare in order to get them settled into their new place.
Oh! And I have a seperate little box for each kid that we pull out for car trips. This way, I never have to scramble to find books for them to read, games to play, etc for trips. When we get home, the boxes are packed away in the basement for the next trip.
Of course, another thing that helps me be efficient is that we do it all the time ;) I've got the system down, and so do the kids.
I found you thru my daughter, Steph's blog. Your children are beautiful. Funny that I clicked on this certain picture cause my grandson wants a Jeep to ride in like this one. I prayed that I would find one in a yard sale that's affordable.
