Out of Order

My house is slowely getting in order...my mind, hmmm, a little bit of clutter right now.  But it's not bad clutter, so we will sift through.  In the meantime, here's a few tidbits from the past few days in our little corner of the world.

At the top of the list we have LIAM the POTTY-TRAINEE!!  He is doing so, so great.  And I am so, SO relieved.  I wasn't sure how we were going to get him on board.  But I started before Christmas, telling him, "After Christmas, no more diapers".  I told him this FREQUENTLY.  And then we did some practice with pullups during the week between Christmas and New Years.  And then we started sitting him on the potty regularly after New Years.  And slowly but surely, we are getting there.  The introduction of a sticker chart seems to be more appealing than M&M's for Liam, so we are going with that.  And dangling some desirable items (like watching Cinderella on DVD--thank you Jen!!!!!!).  We had a couple of accidents (one big one) but not too bad.  I think it just needs to become his habit & we will be good to go.  He has been dry at night (still pullups at night) and getting right on the potty in the morning to pee.  He was so happy to wear his Scooby Doo underwear today :)

Today is January 9th, right?  Okay, and we FINALLY got our tree down...the rest of the decorations will be packed up within the next 2 days.  Our house looks kind of bare right now!  The saddest thing for me isn't taking down the tree- I am happy to have the space back.  The 2 worst things for me are: Taking all the Christmas cards of the fridge and door I hang them on and Taking down the lights/garland/stockings from the stairway railing.  Luckily, I have some things that are basic winter decoration & then Valentine's Day will be creeping up soon and we have some stuff to put out for that.  So the house will retain some fun!

One leftover goal from last year is that of running.  I still haven't done it folks!  And while at first, I couldn't seem to find the time, I would be lying if I said that from about May on, I just didn't create the time in the day to make it happen.  Maybe I can do it this year?  At least try?  There is a fundraiser 5k for the boys preschool at the end of April.  That is my goal right now.  To  be able to run a decent 5k by then.  I just hope I can keep it high on the list and really make it happen.

I am going to be applying for some part-time work this week.  Wish me luck, we need to get some more money coming in the door!

Hope you had a great weekend!!

We've got the tree and stuff down, but I couldn't stand to take the cards down yet so they're still up. I was talking to a friend of mine about how what we need is January Decorations---to wean us gradually off the Christmas Finery! She has some snowman stuff that isn't Christmassy, so she's got that up now.

Good Luck! with the job stuff.

Christmas cards, I know! Ours are still "up", well, inside a china cabinet. I keep thinking of cool things I COULD do with them, and MIGHT do (like scrapbooking or keeping them in a pile to randomly pray for folks during the year or creating a NEW christmas image book for the boy) but they will probably get packed away with all the other stuff. Which is almost packed, but not in the attic yet :)

Oh yes, I have our cards up too - and I agree that the house looks kind of sadly bare once the Christmas stuff is down. I only half-heartedly decorate for any of the other holidays/seasons.

I would love to get back into running too but I'm just not willing to wake up an hour before the kids to do it... I wish you luck though! May you be more determined than I!

I should put my cards BACK up...I also cleaned off the top of my fridge so it now looks so, so bare! And Kelsey- that is the problem with the running goal for me. I am just not a morning girl :(
