Ten, Birthdays and the Beach

Half way through June already and there is so much to catch up on!!

June 1st:  Celebrated TEN years of marriage with Mike :) We didn't do anything particularly special on the day- other than out to dinner with the 3 kiddos in tow.  But we DID have a little beach vacation planned.  Our first vacation ever with just the five of us- no extended family.

I don't know that I can really wrap my brain around ten years of marriage.  I marvel at people like my parents who have been married for 50+!!  I was really hoping to renew our vows but we haven't gotten around to it yet.  And our parish is closing/merging with another...very crazy right now.  So I'm not sure we will get to do that- at least not in the way I had hoped.

June 10th:  Michael's SIXTH birthday!!  I owe him a birthday post.  We kept it low key in terms of celebrating because we also left for our beach trip right after lunch.  We made a stop over at Mike's brother's house and stayed the night there.  He lives very close to Ocean City, Maryland which was our destination.

June 11th:  After a late morning start and stop at the Rehobeth Beach outlets, we finally made to Ocean City around 1:15pm.  Even though our official check in time was not until 3pm, the place was ready so our realtor gave us the keys early!  This allowed us to get some much anticipated beach time in that afternoon.

Beach!
We stayed Monday-Friday and had a blast despite less than ideal beach weather.  Tuesday was rainy so we played mini golf and went for an evening walk on the beach.  Wednesday and Thursday were sunny but both VERY windy.  The kids still got plenty of sand and ocean time.  We were all exhausted each night and thankfully, everyone slept well.  Thursday night, we hit the boardwalk for fudge, rides and a second dinner (we were all starving after the rides so we made a stop for pizza).

The kids were really good- a few rough patches but we had a great time and they adjusted to the beach routine very easily.  I am so glad my kids are beach bums at heart!  While I love going on vacation with a big crowd, it was so nice to be away with just our little family of five.  Very relaxing overall.  I wish we could have stayed longer.  Pictures to come!

Tomorrow is Father's Day and then Wednesday is Liam's FIFTH birthday-- so there are no signs of slowing down anytime soon.  My job is underway and going well.  It's just really hard for me to balance things out but I know that will come as I settle into shifting from work mode to mommy mode.  I just need to find a better child care game plan.

In other less fun news, my Dad has some health concerns going on.  We are awaiting more information and it's very worrisome and stressful.  I can tell my Dad is worried as well which really kills me.  Say a few prayers if you are reading this- he can use them for sure!

I hope we can log some additional beach time before the summer is over--the ocean definitely calms and energizes me!

For now, I am hoping to head to bed soon...vacation was awesome but it definitely wiped me out.
