How old will your child/children be before you allow them to see a movie like "The Dark Knight Rises"?
Or if your children are older, when did you allow them to see this type of movie?
I am not asking due to the recent tragedy, which is such a horror and I can't even imagine how all the victims and their families feel.
I am asking strictly around the idea of movie ratings/content and what you are comfortable with as a parent- for as long as you have a say over what your children view.

I think we are on the over-conservative side on this particular issue, mostly because my kids have been very fearful and nervous about anything even remotely scary on TV (and in life in general). So Katy is 6 and she has only seen movies that have no villains like Lady and the Tramp and Cars. She's seen a couple of "big kid" movies without bad guys in them like Ramona and Beezus. Anyway...I can't imagine how long it would be before they'd be up for something like Batman. I would like to think that I'd hold off until they were 13 for PG-13 movies. But like so many things, that's hard to actually say until I have a 13 year old. (Is it PG-13 or R? I don't even know.)
