Dearest Liam,
Mummer!! More than a month ago, you turned SIX! Baby boy, how can that be?? You will be in FIRST grade in a little over a month. Daddy and I are so proud of the person you are and the person you are becoming. Although I am late to the game with this post, I wanted to catch a glimpse of you in this moment.
You love: music, running, the beach, swimming, drawing/painting, basketball, jokes, books, video games, cars, Legos, board games, freeze tag, hide and seek, and time with family and friends.
You loathe: bathing and having your picture taken.
At 6, you are true to yourself. You continue to be a ray of sunshine, a gentle soul, a selfless brother and friend. You go out of your way to make others happy and are almost always willing to go with the flow. At times, Daddy and I need to remind you that it's okay to insist on having things "your way" every now and again. We love how generous you are- we just want to make sure that you know there are times when it's okay to do things your way.
Your laid back nature hides the more intense parts of your personality. You are always thinking and not just about a math fact or some bit of trivia you've picked up. You ask the hard questions- life and death, justice, truth- sometimes I can't believe what comes out of your mouth (in a good way!). I love the fact that you can be so funny and spontaneous while also having a deep thinker sitting just beneath the surface.
You still like to bring out your stubborn side when necessary. You are a formidable opponent once you get your Irish up. It's GAME OVER for everyone else! I secretly admire that stubborn streak- even when it's working against me.
You are the sweetest brother, always thinking of your siblings and going out of your way for them. Daddy and I try to make sure you get some of your own time with at least one of us- as the middle man, we don't want you to feel overshadowed by the domineering personalities on either side of you.
I see the strength that is building in your character, your kindness, your compassion and the courage to stand up for your beliefs-- I know these traits will always serve you well.
Liam my love- you are such a sweetheart! You will always be our baby boy and Daddy and I love you so much!!
Love always,
Mommy
