The links are endless...

So I am starting to make connections with other moms that blog and it's really cool to be able to learn from the experiences of others. Don't get me wrong, I am not a hermit- I do have friends who are also parents and I definitely seek out their advice. But it's pretty cool to hear from someone that you really don't know and it's even cooler to have this extra source of support from someone who isn't actually obligated to give you that support- they just do. I have already gained so much practical advice just from reading how other families do their thing!

For the few who have commented here and might be thinking, how did she find MY blog? I will fill you in. It reminds of, what's that phenomenon called? "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon"? It's interesting to see who is connected via this world of blogging. I will use blognames to identify each person. Here is the progression:

A friend of mine from college is a new mom "Florida Ink" and we recently reconnected. She told me about her blog so I started reading.

There is a link on her blog to Midwest Mom so again I started reading... adorable children and I like her perspective and was especially interested to hear what it is like to have a preemie. I made some anonymous comments there before I started a blog of my own.

Various people comment on that blog and Live with David and Katy was one of them so I checked that out. Incidentally, Liam is a chunky baby so David immediately caught my attention because his build reminds me of Liam (so cute!). Katy is a cutie too- I don't want to leave her out!

She has a link to MO Mommy so I linked and once again found myself hooked. 2 beautiful boys, close in age, I see various similarities between our lives.

And from there, some others have cropped up and I check in with them sporadically (including but not limited to: Swistle, Mommy Daisy, Money Saving Mom, So The Fish Said, The Jason Show, Busy Bee)... but those four listed above are the blogs I read religiously. It's like my way to unwind from the day. One night, I spent WAY too much time just linking and linking and linking. I had to put a limit on that for myself- there are just too many blogs out there to keep up with on a regular basis. I mean, I do have to sleep at some point, right?

I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your stories so openly and for the advice you have offered. And a special thanks to Kristi for introducing me to this blog craze.

My wish for you tonight is that your children (and you) are safe, sound and sleeping.

I'm so glad you started a blog and started linking! And it's interesting to see how you found everyone: and in case you haven't figured it out, another link: MO Mommy and Midwest Mom are actually really good friends, like, in real life. I know them both through a close friend of mine. I always think it's interesting to know how people know each other.

I also noticed you are reading "mommin' it up". Did you find that one on my blog? I love the girls over there, too. That's another "friend of a friend" connection.

I started blogging about 2 years ago and I absolutely love it - especially the community of moms that are available at any time.

Hey Jane! No problemo with the blog thing- tho' I'm still figuring it out too. It is waay cool to see the connections. Midwest Mom is a cousin of some sort (1st once removed? second?) whom I've only met in person once, but am very much liking! And she's got cool friends/online pals... and yeah, you're totally right: the links are endless. I'm wasting waaay too much time but- oh crap, this is a long comment- come see my blog for more! (shameless plug)
