I can ask my pediatrician about this but I wanted to find out about any "real life" experiences/advice. Is it really horrible if I give Liam peanut butter before he is 2 years old?
Seriously, Michael loves PB&J and Liam is always trying to snag a bite- and for whatever reason, this particular item is the one thing that Michael is WILLING to share with his brother... so will it really increase Liam's risk of a food allergy? There are no reported food allergies in our family.
One of my friends gave her daughter PB prior to the 2 year mark and she is a-okay.
Anyone out there care to comment?

I gave Cal peanut butter around 18 months. He's fine, of course. I also have a very good friend with a three-year-old daughter who has a severe (like, the worst kind) of peanut allergy.
I'd start off with a really small amount. Really, though, he's already been exposed to peanuts (via his brother), and if he hasn't shown any sort of reaction yet I'd bet he was okay. OF COURSE I'm not a doctor, so my two cents are worth no more than that.
Hi, thanks for reading my blog and de-lurking, so to speak. :) Nice to meet you. I just read the last few posts here and it looks like you are in a very similar life place to me.
I agree with Erin on the PB thing. My ped says it's fine to give it to them any time after one year. Katy accidently ate it a couple of times during her 2nd year of life, so I took note that she had no reaction and figured it was fine. I didn't start giving her full out PB until she was 2, but I think she would've been fine. I think if your kid is predisposed to an allergy then maybe it would trigger it sooner, but otherwise it would be fine.
I'll probably be checking out your posts here and there!
