Pee-Pee in the Potty

I am still stalling on REALLY diving into potty training with Michael. It's going to be committed to soon, I am preparing for the inconvenience (which is really the thing that is holding me back).

Anyway, one thing I have done consistently is have Michael sit on the potty at certain times- one of them being right before getting into the tub. Liam has observed this with interest and sometimes he even sits on the potty chair for about 2.5 seconds.

Last night, Liam was getting ready to enjoy a (rare) solo bath and I said what I always say, "Liam, sit on the potty and see if you can make pee-pees go in the potty". And he DID IT! I heaped on the praise and he was clearly so proud of himself.

I know he is probably too young to get my hopes up but here's my secret wish:
To be diaper free in 6 months. A girl can dream, right?

If you can, it will throw all my "theories" about potty training boys out the window.

I'd say 90% of people I know with boys (myself included) didn't successfully potty train until after 3 years. But I don't know very many people. :) So, please, prove me wrong! Give me hope for my Michael :)

PARALLEL LIVES, Sister.

My Emmett actually sits on the little plastic potty (bought in a moment of desperation but never used) whenever someone uses the real pot.

My potty training technique involves 95% NOT PUSHING IT and 5% talking about it, praising anything involving it, and a dash of having him sit on it here and there. It think it might be finally working.

Potty training is on my mind A LOT right now. And I'm in the same spot - playing with it but haven't gotten serious yet. Really wanting to cut down to one set of diapers. I'm talking to friends who have done the "hard core" approach and trying to decide if that would work for Katy. Hmmm...I'm worried it's a long struggle ahead.

Erin- I am right on board with your approach to potty training but I am also right on board with Emily's fears about it taking a long time. But I think I have to get into some sort of routine to help Michael realize that diapers are not a permanent part of his life.
