Boy or Girl: Consider the Evidence

Mike and I do not know the sex of baby #3. We didn't opt for advanced notice with Michael or Liam either. I have been wondering about this ALOT, especially as we discuss name possibilities and imagine what our family life will be like with another little one in the mix.

My pregnancies with Michael and Liam were similar but not exactly the same. Morning sickness was worse with Liam...I carried bigger with Liam although I didn't gain quite as much weight.
Throughout this pregnancy, I have been comparing experiences and just having fun guessing based on what I have felt and experienced this time around. I can't say that I have a strong feeling either way...but then again, I never do.

So have some fun guessing with me, okay? I present you with some evidence- not based on some old wives' tale but on the pregnancy experience itself as compared to the past 2:

Similarities:

1. Same type/duration of morning sickness

2. Same moodiness in general- although it has gotten progressively worse with each pregnancy and this fact can be confirmed by my poor, abused husband.

3. Same rate of tummy growth (as far as I can recall and from husband report)

4. Same 3rd trimester ice-crunching obsession

5. Same love of milk especially first thing in the AM and last thing in the PM. Ice cream is also very popular.

Differences:

1. No line on my belly yet--usually have it by now
2. Some odd things like: tooth pain, EXTREME dry eye problem, foot cramps
3. Carrying lower (by report of others and my own feeling)
4. No rib pain- probably due to the above
5. Lots of pressure down low- again could be due to difference#3

6. Sciatic nerve bothering me

7. LOTS of movement and BIG movements at that, more than I recall- this one is fiesty that's for certain

What do you think? Boy or Girl?

Sorry for the weird spacing, blogger is not cooperating with me!

Hmmmm... I am going to guess GIRL! Not because I am very good at interpreting pregnancy symptoms but because I had two boys (born in 2006 and 2007, just like yours) and then I had a baby girl this year. PLUS I was also married in 2002, just like you! (I read your little bio on the side of the page.) So surely you will have a girl too, right? =)

Not that another little boy wouldn't be great, right? I always used to get so annoyed when people just assumed that I was pining for a girl after having the two boys.

GIRL! totally!

Because, well, just because I think it is. How weird is it that (when I remember you are pregnant, lol) I've always imagined la bebe as a girl?

twin girls? j/k!

this gives me naming rights, right? I'm totally thinking Kristina Bono...
Love, mamak

Oh, you forgot a major piece of evidence: I am having a girl, and since the fates have us living parallel lives... I'm ALL IN for pink!

Also: I have a major third trimester ice crunching thing going too. I had it with the other two as well.

I cannot WAIT to know!

I have no idea...my boy pregnancies were so so so similar and the girl pregnancy was so totally different. We had guessed Michael to be a boy long before we had the ultrasound.

HOWEVER...the one big difference between Michael and Andrew was Michael was LOOOOWWER...oh my heavens lower. I think because by the 3rd kid your tummy is a bit...um...looser. :)

So I don't think any of your new symptoms can be chalked up to anything other than the wear and tear of a 3rd pregnancy on the body.

I still have a gut feeling that it is a girl, though. Which probably means it is a boy, since I am almost 100% inaccurate at determining the gender of babies.

I don't know...I think I might be the first to guess BOY. But I think the biggest determining factor is if you know on what day the baby was conceived in your cycle. Like if you ovulated on day 14 - then baby dance from day 10-12 equals girl, from 13-15 equals boy. You don't have to share this info, but this has literally been true for every person I've known (and has scientific evidence to support).

But besides THAT - I had the sciata thing with both, much worse with David, and like Giselle said, I think that's the kind of thing that gets worse with each pregnancy. Morning sickness I was much worse with Katy - which I've always heard it's worse with girls.

So I'm going to predict BOY so you can keep working on that basketball team! (although I don't know if you're hoping for a girl. if you are - I hope it is for your sake!)

LOVE hearing everyone's ideas!
Mimi: I don't like the 'trying for a girl' assumption either...Of course a little girl would be lovely- but another boy is equally exciting to me.
And I know of at least 3 other moms (Mimi and Momommy included) who have two boys and either have or are expecting a GIRL...
Kristi- Pretty sure it isn't twins although given the magnitude of the movement, it does feel like there is alot of baby in there!

I'm feeling you're working on the trifecta - 3 beautiful boys!
