I never shop for Christmas gifts this early...I just don't. But I gotta tell ya, I am feeling like I NEED to have at least a few things in the house in the very near future. I am beginning to the feel the urge to get things done.
Christmas shopping is one of about 900 things on my list but let me focus on that and ask you for ideas on what to get my 3 year old and 2 year old. Ideally, I'd like one bigger gift- the WOW factor gift- this could be joint for both of them or individual and then ideas for a couple of smaller things. I can cover clothes and a few stocking stuffers.
We aren't going crazy this year for obvious reasons but I am just STUCK for ideas-- nothing has captured my attention yet and my boys aren't yet old enough to show true interest in anything.
I anxiously await your wisdom...

This is a small thing, but I won one on a review blog, and I'm really excited about it: http://www.kaskeykids.com/toys.php
I got the college football guys. I don't know how much your boys are into sports, but it's all about imaginative play with sports figurines, there are several different sport options, etc.
For bigger gifts...hmmm...do they have bikes? I found sleeping bags on deep discount and bought them for my kids for Christmas. A tent or a playhouse type thing? I'm just starting to think about boy stuff, so I probably don't have too much wisdom to share. Good luck.
A couple of big presents we have gotten our boys in the past have been an indoor slide/climby structure and a Thomas the Train table and tracks. They are both still hugely popular in our house.
There is an imaginarium train table at toys r us that comes with the table and complete track set for about $170, but it is on sale this weekend for $20 0r $30 less than that. We're going to give Michael the train table for his birthday in March and save the track for his next birthday - the pieces are going to be too small for him. You guys could do something similar and just buy some cars and trucks to play w/ on the table until their both older - then do the track/pieces for next Christmas???
Or there are simpler tables for less than $100 - I just think it is a great playing surface. Good luck!
My parents got the kids a Playhut thing; they come in various types but this one is like skeeball/basketball. It's been great because it was Huge! Thrill! on Christmas but it FOLDS UP.
I have 2 ideas for the Salad. One is a sled for the rare occassions there is enough snow and the other is a small folding trampoline. You can fold it up and there is a bar they hold, so it's pretty safe. I was thinking of something to burn off some enery in the dead of winter!

no ideas to speak of, since you're light years ahead of me in parenting ;) BUT I do second the train table idea. My brother actually made one for his son, so if Mike likes that kind of thing (I wouldn't rule you out to build something, you know, except for the pregnancy!) If you do go with the table, maybe you can get different "scene" placemat/tablecloth/ background thingys for it??
also, the site above has links to saving money. will you post what you got? or give us hints?
