I Ask, You Answer...

Before I get into this post:

How is this peanut almost ONE?!

And how did she get so big and kid-like?!

Okay...baby growing up too fast- now on to the point of this post.

I have questions, you have answers--deal?  For those of you who are trying to post daily for November, these might be fun topics!  You can give a brief, no frills answer in comments OR comment on which question(s) you answered and link me to your blog so we can all read more!!  I want to know how other people organize their lives when surrounded by small, needy, adorable human beings.  So here's what I want to know:

1. If you happen to be at home with your kids during the day and they are still part of the preschool set--what does your day look like?  Is it structured? Do you home school for preschool or send them out to preschool/activities?

2. An off-shoot of the above question- Do you have time to "teach" them?  I'm talking about school skills like letters, numbers, writing their name, etc.?  What do you do?

3.  Are you a meal planner & does that help? If you wing it, how do you do that successfully?

4.  I asked Kelsey this one: How do you and your spouse/significant other make time for each other?  Kid free time like a dinner date or something....How often?  How do you keep your marriage/relationship a priority?

5.  Do you regularly get together with friends?  Is that important to you and do you do this kid-free or does it always seem to be the play date thing?

6.  If you work full time outside the home- do you like it/does it work for you/do you just tolerate it because you need to?  On the flip side- if you are home with your kids all day (or most of the day), do you like it/does it work for you/do you just do what needs to be done?

7.  Would the presence of a dishwasher in my home make my life exponentially easier OR is it just the same problem in another form?

8.  Do you obsessively watch certain TV shows and what are they?

9.  If you have hardwood floors in your home, how do you keep up with the dust bunnies--do you even care at this point?

10.  Do you ever iron clothes?  Self-Disclosure: I rarely iron now a days and when I did, it was usually limited to certain pants and button down shirts.  My mom was surprised that Liam knew what an iron was...she's a nice lady but can be a smart a$$ when she wants to be!!

11.  What is your most effective discipline tactic?  Do you even have one (LOL)?

Okay, enough questions, it's 11:23pm!!
Time to post :)

I love these questions, and I love the idea about posting every day for a month, but I know I'll just disappoint myself, so I can't do it. Can I still answer some of the questions? I'll link you ;)

I'm planning to do a post sometime in the next week about what our days look like...and that would answer questions 1-5, I think.

But...I NEVER iron - we are way too casual for that. I use it to attach patches that Katy earns at her church program.

And yes, a dishwasher is awesome.. I didn't have one until a couple years ago, It's true that you have to load and unload, but it's still SO much better than none.

Questions! Fun! I'll answer as many as I have time for in one sitting ;) . . .

1. I am home with the 3 littles all day (4,2,7 mos). Our day is pretty structured and I am teaching Sally preschool. Very un-structured preschool.

2. I do have time to teach her. Mopsy naps and so does Bun, but he is easy to occupy with school stuff as well. She just prefers a sort of loosey goosey kind of school so I run with it.

3. I MUST meal plan or I would spend a million dollars at the store every week. We eat a lot of the same things every week, but Rob doesn't mind and it's much easier with the kids at this age. I plan a week at a time and boy does our routine suffer if I don't do it.

4. Rob and I only get out without kids about once every two or three months. But we make each other a priority at home. We put our kids in bed early without fail and we make little dates to watch tv shows and talk. And we make a date and watch a movie from netflix every Sat night.

5. I do regularly get together with friends. Once a month I meet with my book club and once every other month for dinner with a different group of friends. We have a blast and I always look forward to seeing my girls.

6. I love being home with the kids. I feel grateful to be able to do it and I plan to stay home as long as they need me here. :)

7. I LOVE my dishwasher. I never grew up with one and I do not miss washing dishes. And we make a lot of dishes. Plus it's an easy chore to delegate to kids once they are able. Francie empties the dishwasher every morning before school, I load as I go during the day, and then a different kid helps load the dinner dishes. Many hands make light work.

8. Shows we really like: Castle, Parenthood, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, 30 Rock, Bones

9. Lots of hardwood floors here. I have a broom with really soft yellow bristles, but mostly I run my little stick vacuum over all the hardwood and get the dust bunnies along with the crumbs. I do this at least twice a day.

10. I never iron. I don't wear anything that requires ironing these days. If the kids have anything that would wrinkle, I am a whiz with the wrinkle setting on the dryer. ;) Rob likes ironing, so he irons his work shirts himself (and I feel guilty about it, but not guilty enough to actually iron.)

11. Discipline methods? We're sort of hodge-podge, but the one we call Fear Of God works pretty well. Kidding. Time outs - for both kids and toys - work pretty well here. Also, the kids are no dummies. They see their siblings get in trouble and it keeps them on the straight and narrow for a little while at least. :)

Hey, I made it through the whole list! And this is the longest comment I have ever left. :)

your mom is cracking me up!

um, I TOTALLY vote for the dishwasher. It's a similar, slightly easier problem in a slightly different form. The "holding-dirty-dishes-out-of-sight-even-if-they're-not-being-washed-tonight" is what sways me.

I rarely iron, but I do feel guilty about not doing it. I compromise with the Downy wrinkle releaser, which means i have to plan ahead (overnight) but otherwise is awesome.

The rest? Uh, maybe I'll blog it!
