Mighty Macs

I got to go on a movie date this afternoon!!  A friend of mine from high school (Val) was in town & we decided to go see the film "Mighty Macs".  In case you don't know the film is about the girls' basketball team at Immaculata College (now a university) circa 1972 and how they basically went from barely having a program to national champions.

Immaculata is about 20 minutes from me.  I went to graduate school there and my friend Val went there for undergrad.  I think we both liked it even more because of the personal connection.

I don't even know if this film is playing everywhere BUT it was very cool to see a film about a place I've always been familiar with.  ALSO, the Immaculate Heart of Mary nuns (who run the place) have always been a part of my life considering that I went to Catholic school for my entire educational career (except for kindergarten).

It was a pretty good movie, pulling on the heart strings quite a bit.  There were aspects of the characters that I'd like to have known more about but the film kept it's focus on the team's journey...which was the intention.

If you have the chance, check it out.  A pretty amazing sports story and nice to see one about women :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the film. We hardly ever go to the movies any more, maybe once or twice a year. I'm just happy we're watching Netflx again after letting one collect dust for almost a year.
