State of Emergency

Okay, so given that there were 4 different fires within hours of each other early on Saturday morning (2 in my township), the township has now declared a "State of Emergency". There is a township meeting Tuesday night to discuss precautions and to get volunteers for a town watch. We were given 2 flyers with details on clearing off front or back porches, keeping your yard clear of anything unnecessary, etc.

Our porches aren't particularly cluttered but this afternoon, I did take the cushions off our porch furniture and put several other potentially flamable items into our basement. We keep both porch lights on all night. Normally, we keep our outdoor trash cans on our back porch during the winter months but they are now at the end of our yard.

I sure hope these precautions do their job. More importantly, I hope the powers that be do THEIR job, track these a-holes down and string them up by their toes. These fires are happening all over the area- with no apparent rhyme or reason. The feeling is that no one is safe. It is truly terrifying.

I need to post about it for my own stress relief. But part of me feels like I am just glorifying the acts of sadistic whack-jobs (that's a legimate diagnosis in my book)...I am giving these people what they want--attention, power, etc. But it's too much anxiety for me to take quite frankly. I sort of calmed down about it for a few days but now I am back to feeling like a sitting duck.

Please keep this situation in your prayers...

*SURVEY: If you were worried right before bed would you a)drink a cup of hot tea OR b)drink a beer? Remember, I have to get up for work tomorrow, so excess is not an option!!!

Almost supernatural...

So after my worrying last night, Michael fell asleep at a decent hour. I also read some information on bad habits and how to handle them that made me feel a little better about the fingernail/toenail picking thing. I am going to try the advice and then will share in a later post if it seems helpful.

I was breathing a sigh of relief last night and then this morning...

Mike was home and we slept in so when the kids woke up around 8am, he got them out of their respective cribs and brought them into our room. They love to roll around on the bed and snuggle and then run up and down the hallway. They are so cute and lovey in the morning :) Liam was especially cuddly this morning.

We were getting ready to go downstairs and I was sitting on the floor by our bedroom door and Michael came running down the hall and said something like,
"I see that girl down there". He was trying to close our door.
(Mike and I look at each other like "WTF!?")
Me: What girl?
Michael: That girl down there (looking down the hall)
Me: Where is she?
Michael: Right there (pointing down the hall)
Me: What does she look like?
Michael: She's blue
(Mike and I exchange another look- I am trying to decide whether or not to be freaked out and thinking about the phrase "I see dead people")

Mike walks down the hall with Michael and asks again where the girl is. Michael points up at some pictures on the wall. There are 2 5x7 photos in black/white that are 1st Christmas pics for each of them. I guess the pictures looked blue to him? THAT is what Michael was referring to. Mike picked him up and showed him the pictures close up so he could see who they really were. It still freaked me out especially since I thought that Michael would recognize those photos?? I'm not going to dwell on it at this point.

No wonder I have gray hair!
