I am taking a little break from blog writing. Not that I've been setting the world on fire with my posts. But I did post more frequently last month, thanks to NaBloPoMo.
My focus is not on the good stuff right now. And while this is a great space to vent, I don't want to constantly put all my negativity out here, especially during this time of year. A time of year when I like to appreciate the good stuff: family, friendship, love and laughter. I'm a bit bogged down right now. Each time I sit down to write, it takes a turn into depressing topics territory. And it doesn't actually make me feel any better.
So I plan to spend this time refocusing on that good stuff...living the good stuff. And once I feel that I can balance out my perspective, I will be back here writing here again. I am always grateful for the sense of community and support I have found here in bloggy land. So I'm not breaking up with you...we're just on a break ;)
I will still be keeping up with all my favorite reads :)
Happy December!!!
I know this month is going to fly by!

Where I'm From
I am from screen doors, from Tetley iced tea
and bathing babies in the kitchen sink.
I am from green and white porch posts, with an American flag
waving in the warm sun,
or bright with lights on Christmas Eve.
I am from the mimosa tree in the backyard,
the daffodils and petunias, coloring the garden out front.
I am from sitting on a suitcase while driving to the beach,
clear blue eyes
From Newswangers and Divineys and Lennons.
I am from the worry warts and the vivid dreamers.
From clean your plate and quick, quick like a bunny
I am from Sunday school,
bible stories told on a felt board and sacraments.
I am from Chester County and County Cork,
from Irish bread and eggs over easy.
From the steel mill explosion that my dad survived
and the puppy in the coat pocket of a family friend visiting my grandmother, then a child
I am from albums and shoe boxes of photographs,
so randomly collected,
that tell a scattered story
pieced together in memories,
with family at the core.
The above is a creative experience for little me, who is trying to get back on the writing track. I gave it some time and patience... and was surprised and pleased at how personal the final product is.

Swirling Thoughts
I'm quite certain that I haven't done THIS amount of thinking/analyzing/pondering in at least 4 years. I feel like all of the sudden, there is always something being mulled over in the back of my mind. Some is serious stuff as mentioned in my last post. Some is not crisis-oriented. For example...
For maybe a month, my thoughts have been flirting with the idea of a 4th baby. Just a casual flirtation. For me, the desire to have a child doesn't come from any logical place. The thought doesn't start with consideration about space in the house, funds in the bank account or how we can all survive with only one bathroom. It begins someplace different. I started to worry when this thought kept lingering, because I had previously been feeling "done" and complete as a family of five. The thought was lingering a bit too long--I was starting to wonder if I needed to think about it for real. I had even talked it over briefly with Mike (who would have a family of 4 or more but is also happy with our family as it is today).
Then last night, after I laid Chloe in her crib to settle, I sat in the glider in her room as I usually do. I listened to her babble to herself and roll around, finding just the right spot to curl up (tummy sleeper by choice) with her legs tucked under her and her butt in the air. As I sat there, I was suddenly struck by the feeling of completeness. I thought about the idea of never going through another pregnancy, never carrying another baby, feeling the movement, giving birth. I put my hand on my belly and I felt peace with that idea. My body has done a phenomenal job and it will always have the purpose of nurturing my three little wonders. I don't have to lose that feeling, that purpose, in the absence of a plan for another pregnancy. Simply put- It felt right.
