I had a checkup with my OB/GYN today- it was going well until she started to talk about my weight gain--which is apparently not quite adequate. However, the baby's heart rate and activity level is very good and I am measuring okay in terms of uterus-size.
Still, I hate to feel as though I am doing a bad job of being pregnant. So she told me to schedule an ultrasound for next week- which I did get a Thursday afternoon appointment. But now I am going to worry between now and then about the baby & what I am doing wrong.
I generally don't pay attention to weight gain, as long as they tell me it is okay, then I am okay. I try to eat good stuff despite my strong attraction to all things junk food during this time. I also drink those Ensure drinks- especially early on when my morning sickness is so bad- because I figure they at least pack in some extra vitamins, etc. I just hope that the baby is growing well and that everything checks out At 20 weeks, all was well but this is now 15 weeks later.
With Michael, I had low amniotic fluid and was induced 9 days prior to my due date, so even then, he was full term and a-okay. I did not have that problem with Liam.
Please just keep a positive thought in your prayers for me--I am more than a little worried! And I will feel even worse if something is wrong and it's actually my fault somehow...

YOU are doing a WONDERFUL JOB BEING PREGNANT.
now, print that, stick it up on your bathroom mirror and repeat 100x a day.
cuz it's the truth, girlfriend. trust me. heck, trust YOURSELF! you & your body know what to do... :)
many good thoughts and prayers coming north at ya!
Love, Kristi
All I heard through all my pregnancies was that I wasn't gaining enough weight. With Andrew, I literally ate a hot fudge sundae every night for 2 weeks, and I still only gained .5 pounds between appointments. I stressed and ate a TON, and ended up gaining just 16 pounds...and then Andrew came out a whopping 9 1/2 pounds. I just didn't listen to them with the next two pregnancies (Lily I gained 13 pounds, and Michael 15)
Now, I know every situation is different, so I'm not saying that you shouldn't worry. But I really think that sometimes doctors get us all worried about having the "perfect" numbers. If the baby is looking good and you are feeling good...I just don't see the reason to panic you.
I agree with the above! If your uterus is measuring fine, then chance are the baby is growing just fine. As I recall, you are not a hefty woman to start with ;) My sister in law only ever gained 15 pounds with her pregnancies and all her kids are right as rain.
If you are too worried, I'll be glad to donate some of my excess weight for your peace of mind ;)
I will say a few extra prayers that all is well, even though I'm
SURE that all the above comments are 100% on track and that you're doing just fine. Hey, you're at 35 weeks, I think you're doing an excellent job of being pregnant!
You're not doing anything wrong! I am sending good thoughts your way.
