First, a question:
How old was your child when you moved him/her from a crib to a bed
OR
If you haven't gotten to that yet, what's your plan?
Will you use a toddler bed or just go right to the real thing?
We have been talking about moving Michael to a bed for some time now. The only thing that has held us back is lack of an actual bed/funds for a bed. We now have the opportunity to inherit a toddler bed. So if that pans out, I think we will take the plunge. He is so ready!!
I don't think this will be a big transition for him but I could be wrong. Michael is also giving us signs that he is really ready to attempt potty training and so I think we need to make some changes to support that effort. Even though I am so intimidated by it and I can't even really explain to you why. Michael has already gone on the potty (regular and "pottychair"). I would gladly wait until he is closer to 3 but his interest level and awareness are there so I think we are going to give it a try and see how it goes...

We have been dragging our feet on both of these transitions. We have a twin mattress and box spring in Katy's closet that we plan to put directly on the floor when we are ready. I've been thinking about setting it up in her room and leaving the crib in there, too, for a transition. I'm just worried about her getting out of bed alot, so I want to leave the crib up so I can just put her in there if she tries to get out a lot. We might do this in the next couple of weeks. I have one of those rails that you can attach to a bed, too, which we'll probably use. We inherited this bed, so I'm not going to bother with getting a toddler bed, I think sitting it on the floor will be fine (but if I got a toddler bed for free - then sure!).
And the potty training - we were waiting until after vacation, then we were sick, so we said after Christmas... so here we are. I have always said that I wanted to wait until she was old enough so it would be easy and we could do it quickly. It would definitely be nice not to have to buy diapers for 2 anymore!!
