Not As Planned...

Our Christmas began at 4am when Michael awoke screaming because he had thrown up all over himself. I felt so bad for him...and so grossed out! It was not a pretty sight. We had to take everything out of the crib, give him a bath because the yuckiness was even in his hair, start a load of laundry and PRAY that Liam would sleep through all of the commotion. God bless my little bear, he slumbered away!

Michael then joined us in bed and was able to settle back to sleep. He was SO tired. We prepped as best we could for any additional, um, vomit. LUCKILY, he did not get sick again until after we were out of bed- around 8am- and it was minimal because I think his belly was pretty empty at that point.

We stayed home the entire day (ugh!) due to the threat of stomach bug issues... and missed out on family time and two super-yummy meals.

Despite all of this, the boys enjoyed their gifts from Santa & us. They each got a Kawasaki peddle bike (tricycle style but plastic), a Thomas the Train set, PJ's and a few little stocking stuffers. Thomas was a HUGE hit.

Liam ended up with some nasty diapers but other than that, we have been lucky so far. PLEASE pray that I do not get the whammy tonight because I will be really pissed. I think since I took care of everyone all day, I should get a pass.

So our Christmas day did not turn out at all like we expected but we did manage a family meal of sorts (a late lunch). Also, my parents, Mike's mom and Mike's brother all braved the threat of yuckiness and visited us anyway. (Yes, Mike's brother- I haven't had time to write about their recent peace treaty).

We made it through the day okay all things considered. But we REALLY missed the family gatherings. Mike & I were sad about this but because the boys are so young, they were pretty happy to play in their home and we found so much joy in cherishing this moment-even though it wasn't what we planned.

Ahhh, that's so sad! I hate it when little kids get the stomach flu and end up throwing up on themselves.

Diego ate a whole bunch of tomatoes with balsamic dressing just as he was coming down with the stomach flu. In the middle of the night...he threw up....and you can just imagine....

He no longer likes tomatoes.

Oh, I'm so so sorry, Jane! I've been really worried about being sick on Christmas for the last month because we've been so sick lately - and they timing of it was awful for you! What a bummer! I'm glad you were able to make the most of it, but I would've been really disappointed too.

Merry Christmas, and I really hope you get a pass!

I hope Santa brought you something extra special...you deserve it this year!
